Energy sacrifice zones

This dissertation critically examines energy policies, focusing on the lignite phase-out in Western Macedonia and hydrocarbon exploration in the Mediterranean. Through visual metaphors like "Iphigenia in Aulis" and "Sonic Warfare", it critiques the ecological and social sacrifices driven by these energy transitions, highlighting the neocolonial forces shaping both land and marine ecosystems. The work explores the intersections of energy policies with class struggles, far-right ideologies, and environmental degradation. It advocates for interdisciplinary, meta-level approaches to energy research, calling for more holistic frameworks to address global energy and environmental crises.
